Cool tools: Google Calendar support for Thunderbird
Many businesses using Google Apps to host staff email accounts prefer to use dedicated desktop mail software such as Mozilla Thunderbird. This enables a "best of both worlds" scenario: the huge capacity and professional support of a business-grade Gmail account, coupled with the stability, flexibility, and powerful extensions ecosystem of Thunderbird (not to mention full offline access to email in an internet outage).
With the help of the Provider for Google Calendar extension, your Google Calendar can be opened and managed in Thunderbird with full-two way syncing and reminder support. Changes to Google Calendar are updated automatically amongst smartphones and tablets, the Gmail web interface, and Thunderbird.
