Ubuntu has great business printing support

A common concern expressed by business owners around making the switch from Microsoft Windows or Apple macOS to Ubuntu is the level of printer support. Printing, scanning, and photocopying are critically important for businesses—and switching to an alternative operating system (OS) is clearly impractical without full support for these features.

Ubuntu has outstanding printer support right out of the box—with super-easy printer management and a vast range of supported models. Adding a printer in Ubuntu is as simple as connecting the device and letting Ubuntu discover and install the appropriate print driver automagically. If you've ever gone through the hassle of locating printer installation discs, or sifting through a vendor's website trying to find the correct software for the associated version of Windows, the Ubuntu experience will come as a breath of fresh air by comparison.

Leading printer vendors such as Hewlett Packard provide first-class Ubuntu support—with close to 2,500 models compatible with Ubuntu. This includes models ranging from small black and white desktop printers, to sophisticated printing/scanning/photocopying (PSC) devices. If the printer is not detected automatically by Ubuntu, then HP's dedicated printer software can be installed from their website for the broadest possible device support.

All of the expected printer features are available on Ubuntu. Here we can see detailed printer preferences being set:

Excellent business printing is just one of a number of compelling advantages Ubuntu offers over Windows and macOS—and with better security, superior ease-of-use, innovative features, and zero cost.
